Margate Rocks 08 Film Programme

Presenting the best of emerging British talent, DIY eco films and green filmmaking.

The overall theme of the film programme is drift – making films from the detritus of the seaside, responding to the sea, and recycling found material, along with the parallel meanings of a drifting mind and the drift of populations through immigration. This ties in with the overall art and ecology theme via a focus on green filmmaking - how to make a film that is in itself ecologically sound, from equipment to making the decision about whether your subject is worthwhile considering its carbon footprint – aimed at both current practitioners and new talent.

Supporting screenings on these themes will be a bespoke education programme to stimulate local and community filmmaking.
